Vitamin E is the widely used generic term for eight related, fat-soluble antioxidant compounds found in plants and vegetable oils: the tocopherols (alpha-, beta-, gamma- and delta-) and tocotrienols sub-family (alpha-, beta-, gamma- and delta-). The fat-solubility of tocopherols and tocotrienols makes them critical antioxidants effective against free radicals inside the cell.
