Antioxidants
"Free radicals" are highly reactive, unstable molecules that can cause serious cellular damage. They link themselves to unpaired electrons that pull on the atoms of other cells that then become disrupted, causing a chain reaction of oxidation in the body. Free radicals are produced through normal bodily processes, but also from other air pollution and tobacco smoke. They can attack vital cellular components, including cellular membranes and DNA, and are associated with the aging process and with chronic conditions such as heart disease and cancer.
Antioxidants are substances that destroy free radicals and mitigate their harmful effects on the body. They keep us healthy and contribute to prevention of illness and disease.
